Jeff Overton hasn’t finished in the top 20 in a PGA Tour event in ‘08. But something has clicked for the former Walker Cup team member. He won a British Open qualifier Monday and now is tied with Tom Pernice for the lead at Call it the Black and Blue Course after a day of sublime scoring that featured a tournament-record 7-under-par 63 from Tom Pernice Jr. and a 65 from third-year pro Jeff Overton. Both shared the 36-hole lead at 9-under 131. (AP) — Jeff Overton doesn’t feel like a different player than the guy who could couldn’t make it to the weekend on the PGA Tour over the last two months. Funny how seeing the ball go in the hole changes everything.
